1. All submissions must be submitted through the form on the submission page or via email to Orbit@littlebrown.co.uk and must contain ‘Fantasy workshop submission’ in the subject title.
2. Submissions which have been sent by post or means other than the form or email to the correct email address will not be accepted.
3. All submissions must be received by 3rd August 11:59pm GMT. Orbit will not review any submissions received after this date.
4. Each submission must contain:
(i) One writing sample, with sequential page numbering included up to 2,000 words. This must relate to the writing challenge set by Karen Miller: ‘write a scene which shows how one of your characters is morally conflicted‘
(ii) Author biography, to include creative writing courses attended, short stories published, prizes etc.
5. The submission must be in Word or PDF format and all submissions must be contained within one document.
6. Submissions that do not meet requirements of points 4-5 inclusive shall not be read.
7. Fiction ideas only will be considered.
8. Submissions shall be limited to one per person
9. All samples must be written in English
10. Submissions must never have been self-published
11. Submissions must never have been posted on publishing websites, forums or access platforms such as (but not limited to) Authonomy, Wattpad, Smashwords, Lulu, FanFiction, CompletelyNovel
12. All submissions must never have had an ISBN.
13. Orbit will make contact with any authors where they want to read the whole book.
14. Orbit’s decision is final; unsuccessful authors will not be notified.
15. You will retain all copyright in your submission and by submitting your sample you grant Orbit a licence to copy your submission and share it with its affiliates solely for the purpose of gathering feedback.
16. Orbit will not be able to return any submissions, so please do make copies.
